The StagesPower app is currently the only way to update the firmware on a Stages Power meter, however it is possible to check your firmware version without having access to the app through certain Garmin™ head units. Please activate your crank and connect it to your head unit like normal, then follow the following steps to check for your firmware version.
Some other head units and third party apps will list the firmware version as "SW" or Software version, so please note that this is the same as firmware version when referring specifically to your power meter.
