Testing shifter/button functionality on a Stages SB20 smart bike

Modified on Mon, 14 Apr at 3:42 PM

To confirm the shifting is working as expected on your Stages SB20 and help diagnose other related symptoms, follow these steps.

Set user weight

Select the Profile tab at the bottom of the app to access the user settings menu. The weight entered here is used to calculate resistance, so it's important to set it accurately. It doesn’t have to be exact but try to keep it close to your real weight for the best results.  User weight listed on the profile page of Stages Cycling app

Creating a new setup

  1.  Connect to your SB20 and select the SETUPS tab. Next, click the + icon to create a new profile.Setups tab highlighted in upper right and plus icon highlighted in lower right
  2.  On the New Setup screen, you will see several different options for modifying how the SB20 will behave with shifting. The default settings will be sufficient for the purpose of this test.
    • Set a reasonable equipment weight.
    • Use Campagnolo or Shimano shifting setting.
    • Brake should be enabled, unless you are using an SB20 mountain bike shifter and no brakes are present.
  3. To apply these settings to the bike, tap the checkmark in the upper right corner. It will turn green when selected.
