Indoor cycling environments can generate significant sweat, which can introduce corrosive buildup on components over time. The SB200 is designed to resist damage from sweat exposure; however, these protections are not impervious to long-term accumulation.
Post-ride cleaning
Wipe down all exposed surfaces that have any residue:
- Frame
- Handlebars/Stem
- Crank arms/BB area
- Contact points and high-sweat zones
To do this, use a soft, non-abrasive cloth. Apply a small dab of water and a mild soap to remove any surface residue. Avoid products containing ammonium chloride, as they can degrade protective finishes and materials.
Consistent post-ride cleaning significantly reduces cumulative wear and extends component life.
Best practices
- Always wipe down the bike after use, or at least once a week during heavy use periods
- Focus on high-contact and sweat-prone areas
- Use minimal moisture; avoid any moisture exposure near electronic or moving components
- Dry surfaces after cleaning if any moisture was used
