Whether you're pairing your Stages Power meter for the first time or switching head units, here is a quick start guide to getting your power meter set up with some of the most common cycling computers that are compatible with your Stages Power Meter. 


Please see your head unit's user manual for instructions for devices not listed here. 


Note: If you're pairing for the first time, please make sure you've first removed the cover and yellow battery isolation strip in order to re-install the battery to power on the device for the first time.

To pair your Stages Power meter to your Stages Dash device, first activate your power meter by rotating the cranks 2-3 rotations, then go to:


Dash M50/L50: Main menu > Manage sensors > Add sensors > Search via ANT or Search via Bluetooth > Select power meter from the list. 


Dash L10: Main menu > [Activity Name] Sensors > Add Sensors > ANT Sensors or Bluetooth Sensors > Select power meter from the list

  • Your power meter should show up on both the ANT and Bluetooth sensors list so that you may choose which method you use to pair the device. Be sure to check that the 4-5 digit ID number shown on the sensor list matches the ANT+ ID listed on the power sensor. 
  • After you have successfully paired, use the Zero Reset button on the home screen [L10] or hold down the enter button and select Zero reset [M50/L50] to perform a zero reset on your power meter.  


Garmin Edge 500 / Forerunner 910XT

Settings > Bike Settings > Bike 1 (or applicable bike profile) > ANT+ Power > Power meter present? > Yes


We recommend bypassing the "Search" function by entering in the power meter's ID directly. From here, select "Sensor Details" and enter in the ANT+ ID from the crank arm.


The ANT+ ID can be found on the silver sticker on the crank arm below the power meter pod. It is also listed on the card that comes in the box with the power meter.


Under "Sensor Details", enter in the 4-5 digit ANT+ ID from your crank. Note: For the 910xt, hold down the scroll button to adjust the number. The longer you hold it, it will switch from scrolling 1s, 10s, then 100s

For Edge 500, If you have a 4-digit ANT+ ID, please enter 0 for the first digit. After you've entered in all the digits, select "Done" from the number selection.

This should bring you back to the previous page. From here, there's no need to press search. Simply rotate the crank to  activate the power meter and when it is first detected by the head unit, it should display "Power Sensor Found" on the screen.


If you are on the most recent Garmin firmware, it may also pop up and ask you to calibrate. Before you calibrate, please first rotate your left crank into the 6 o'clock position and make sure you are off the bike.


Once you're ready, select "Yes" and it should bring back a calibration value to set the zero offset for your power meter. If it does not pop up, you can select "Calibrate" at any time from the Settings > Bike Settings > Bike 1 > ANT+ Power > then select "Calibration". This will always be an option once the power meter is connected and paired with the head unit.

Settings (Tools Icon) > Bike Profiles > Bike 1 (or applicable bike profile) > Power (Barbell Icon) > Power Meter Enabled Toggle.


We recommend bypassing the "Search" function by entering in the power meter's ID directly. From here, select "Sensor Details" and enter in the ANT+ ID from the crank arm.


The ANT+ ID can be found on the silver sticker on the crank arm below the power meter pod. It is also listed on the card that comes in the box with the power meter.

Under "Sensor Details", enter in the 4-5 digit ANT+ ID from your crank preceded by 0s to take up any extra spaces. E.g. if you have 7 blanks, you may need to add 2-3 0s before your ANT+ ID depending on if it is a 4 or 5 digit ID.

After you have entered in the ID, select the check icon. From here, there's no need to press search. Simply rotate the crank to activate the power meter and when it is first detected by the head unit, it should display "Power Sensor Found" on the screen. 


Once you are connected, you can now calibrate the power meter. From the home screen, select the "Tools" Icon > Bike Profiles > Bike 1 (or applicable profile) > Power icon >  Calibrate. The left crank must be in the 6 o'clock position with no weight on the pedal to proceed. Once you're ready, follow the prompt to calibrate and it should successfully return a 3 digit number.

Garmin Edge 1000 / Edge 820

From the home screen, select the "Tools" icon > Sensors > Add Sensor > Power > A list of sensors will populate > Select Sensors to Add (confirm ANT+ ID matches power meter)

Calibration/Zero Reset: 

From the home screen, select the "Tools" Icon > Sensors > Power > Calibrate. The left crank must be in the 6 o'clock position with no weight on the pedal to proceed. Once you're ready, follow the prompt to calibrate and it should successfully return a 3 digit number.



Garmin Edge 520

From the home screen, use the down arrow to select > Settings > Sensors > Add Sensor > Sensor Type: Power > Select sensors to add (confirm ANT+ ID matches power meter)

Rotate the crank arm to ensure the power sensor is active during the pairing process. For best results, hold the head unit in close proximity to the power sensor while performing the initial pairing.

This sensor will be saved into the sensors and accessories section list using the ANT+ ID number. Always confirm when it connects that it has connected to the power sensor that you are about to ride. If two sensors are active, you will be prompted to choose which sensor to use and it is important that you select the correct power sensor in order to view and record your power data.

 

To calibrate: go to Menu > Settings > Sensors > ANT+ ID of your power sensor > Calibrate > Confirm the crank is positioned vertically, then select Calibrate again.


Garmin Edge 1030

From the home screen, select the menu button > Sensors > Add Sensor > Sensor Type: Power > Select power sensor. Note that this model may display your power meter twice, once as an ANT+ sensor and once as a Bluetooth sensor. Pick the appropriate one depending on how you would like to connect. 


Rotate the crank arm to ensure the power sensor is active during the pairing process. For best results, hold the head unit in close proximity to the power sensor while performing the initial pairing.


This sensor will be saved into the sensors and accessories section list using the ANT+ ID number. Always confirm when it connects that it has connected to the power sensor that you are about to ride. If two sensors are active, you will be prompted to choose which sensor to use and it is important that you select the correct power sensor in order to view and record your power data.

Garmin vivoactive 4/4S

Move at least 10 m (33 ft.) away from other wireless sensors.  If you are pairing a heart rate monitor, put on the heart rate monitor. The heart rate monitor does not send or receive data until you put it on.  Hold 'B' .  Select Settings (indicated by a 'gear' symbol) > Sensors > Add New.  Bring the device within 3 m (10 ft.) of the sensor, and wait while the device pairs with the sensor. After the device connects to the sensor, an icon appears at the top of the screen.

Note: The Lezyne Micro, Micro C, and Super GPS can be paired via Bluetooth or ANT+, while the Mini and Macro GPS can pair only with Bluetooth sensors. 


Hold the top right Menu button to enter the Main Menu > Scroll to Sensors > Power > Select either Scan Bluetooth or ANT+ (if applicable) > Select your power meter from the list of power sensors. 

  • Once successfully connected, your device will read Paired and show the power icon on the home screen. 
  • Once paired, use the Calibration option from the Power sensor menu to perform a zero reset.

From the home page, use the [+] key to scroll to Settings > Bike 1-3 & Totals > Select Bike 1, 2, or 3 (depending on which bike profile is using the power meter) > Scroll down and select ANT+ Pairing > Scroll down to Power Meter > then select Power (will say power 1, 2, or 3 depending on bike profile selected) and it will begin searching for the sensor. Sensor ID will be displayed once power meter is found. Please confirm that the sensor ID displayed matches the ANT+ ID number on the crank arm.


To calibrate:  place the crank in the 6 o'clock position with no weight on the pedal, then select "Manual Zero Offset". Once completed, the computer will return a zero offset value for the crank.


Suunto Ambit2

Hold down Next to enter the Options Menu > Pair > Power POD > It will begin searching once you select Power POD and pair with your power meter. Make sure to activate the power meter by rotating the crank.


If the pairing fails, press [Start/Stop] to retry, or [Light/Lock] to return to the pairing setting.


When you select Cycling, it will also search for your sensors and  calibration will occur at the time of pairing. Please make sure the  power meter is in the vertical/6 o'clock position. If it fails, check crank position and select Retry
You can also manually request calibration when in Cycling mode, hold down Next to go to options > Calibrate

To pair a POD or sensor: Go to your watch settings > select Connectivity>Select Pair sensor to get the list of sensor types>Swipe down to see the whole list > tap on the sensor type you want to pair. Follow the instructions in the watch to complete pairing (refer to sensor or POD manual if needed), pressing the middle button to advance to the next step.


If the POD has required settings, such as crank length for a power POD, you are prompted to enter a value during the pairing process. Once the POD or sensor is paired, your watch searches for it as soon as you select a sport mode that uses that sensor type. You can see the full list of paired devices in your watch from the settings under Connectivity » Paired devices.  



Wahoo Elemnt and Elemnt Bolt


The Elemnt and Elemnt Bolt can be paired on the unit or within the Elemnt app.

Press power to access the menu > Sensors: Add Sensor > Hold next to sensor > Save. If multiple power sensors are displayed, confirm ANT+ ID matches the ID printed on the power meter sticker. . To calibrate/zero reset, select the sensor and use the left most button Calib.

Go to Settings > Set Up Sensors > Select sensor from list and toggle on to save sensor. If multiple power sensors are displayed, confirm ANT+ ID matches the ID printed on the power meter sticker. 


Hammerhead Karoo

On the Home screen, click on the "Sensors" app > Toggle the Bluetooth button to search for only BLE devices > Toggle the ANT+ button to search for only ANT+ devices > Tap on the"﹢" button to start the search for nearby sensors.  Once the nearby ANT+/ BLE devices are listed, select the sensor that you want to pair with. Tap on the"✓" button to confirm pairing.  The chosen sensor will now be paired.
