The user weight in Zwift is not directly connected to the weight entered in the Link app. The bike does not receive your weight input from Zwift; it relies on the weight set in the Link app to provide realistic resistance when simulating grades in Zwift.

User weight in Zwift

Zwift uses a few variables to decide how quickly your avatar moves through its worlds:

  • Power - Zwift gets this from a Bluetooth or ANT+ connection to your StagesBike.
  • User weight - As entered in your Zwift profile.
  • Other variables like aerodynamics and equipment weight, which are properties of your equipment selection.

User weight + equipment weight for StagesBike

The StagesBike uses a few other variables to determine the amount of resistance to apply to the flywheel:

  • Flywheel speed
  • Gradient
  • Gear
  • User + Equipment weight

The user + equipment weight comes from the Link app. To set these variables, you must connect to the StagesBike with the Link App. Entering your body weight is done when setting up your account in Stages Link, but can also be tracked on a daily basis from the body metrics page. To update your body (user) weight in the Link app, go to Account Settings > Body Metrics > Body weight and press the + icon (or access from the shortcut under Equipment Weight from any of your virtual setups). The weight entered here will be used in simulation calculations until a new weight is entered.

The StagesBike manager in the Link app allows you to add equipment weight to your user weight. Equipment weight can be set individually on each of your virtual setups. To add equipment weight, go to Device Manager > Stages Bike > settings icon > Virtual Setups (choose one) > Equipment weight (press on weight value to update).
