Tools Required

  • 3mm hex wrench
  • 2.5mm hex wrench
  • 1 zip-tie
  • Diagonal cutters

Parts Required

  • 000-7827 HARNESS E, UPPER

Procedure

  1. Unplug the bike.
  2. With the 3mm hex wrench, remove the the two nose cone screws and pull off the nose cone.
  3. Unplug the wire connection by releasing the small clip and gently pulling apart.
  4. Pinch the white retaining clip to remove it from the frame tab.
  5. Use the 3mm wrench to remove the three screws attaching either the tablet holder accessory or the endcap.
  6. With the 3mm hex wrench, remove the four screws under the phone holder. The short end of the wrench will be necessary for the two screws towards the back of the bike.
  7. Remove the 6-wire connector (not the 20-wire connector) from the upper PCB by pulling on the white connector, not the wires. Note the green wire is closest to the 20-wire connector.
  8. Use the 2.5mm wrench to remove the cable guide.
  9. Push the loose wire back through the hole in the handlebar stem.
  10. Loosen and remove the handlebar fore/aft adjustment lever and rectangular nut.
  11. With the 3mm hex wrench, reinsert just one of the four screws to reattach the phone shelf to the handlebar stem.
  12. Slide the handlebar assembly toward the back of the bike and remove it from the handlebar stem.

  13. IMPORTANT!!!  Zip tie the replacement wire to the existing wire at the top of the handlebar stem so that the black connector of the replacement wire is attached to the white connector of the existing wire. Trim the tail of the zip tie with the diagonal cutters. Make sure that the zip tie is tight around the black section of wire, not the exposed colored wires.
  14. PUSH the connectors through the hole in the top of the handlebar stem. Do not pull from the bottom, as this may damage the connectors. AFTER the connectors are through the hole in the top of the handlebar stem, gently pull from the bottom, while holding the white connector of the replacement wire to ensure it isn’t also pulled through the hole.
  15. Using the diagonal cutters, remove the zip tie while ensuring that the replacement wire stays in place.
  16. Insert the white plastic clip into the frame tab near the bottom end of the replacement wire.
  17. While holding the top end of the replacement wire towards the rear of the bike and down, slide the handlebar assembly forward, onto the handlebar stem. Gently rock the handlebar side to side to ensure it has been installed correctly. There should be slight movement, but the handlebar should stay attached to the handlebar stem.
  18. With the 3mm hex wrench, remove the screw that was reinstalled to hold the phone shelf onto the handlebar slider.
  19. Push the connector back up through the hole in the handlebar slider, and reconnect it to the upper PCB, with the green wire closest to the 20-wire connector. The connector is directional, do not force it.
  20. Reinstall the cable guide with the 2.5mm hex wrench, giving the replacement wire about an extra inch of slack.
  21. Reinstall the handlebar fore/aft screw into the handlebar stem, while holding the rectangular nut in place.
  22. Reinstall the four screws behind the phone holder.
  23. Reinstall the three screws with either the tablet holder or handlebar endcap in place.
  24. Reconnect the wire at the base of the handlebar stem. They are directional, ensure they are properly aligned and do not force it.
  25. Reinstall the nose cone and the two screws to attach it.
  26. Plug the bike back in and resume normal use.
