Hi All,
Doug has sent over some strict guidelines for Dash shipping that we will have to follow. Please read the below notes carefully and let me know if there’s any questions. In short, don’t ever ship just batteries and don’t ship more than 2 Dash per box. This info will be available in the FD knowledge base as well.
Doug’s words:
“This has to do with regulations around the shipment of Li-Ion batteries as used in the Dash head units. We are setup with SOP here and in Hong Kong to ship the head units in compliance with regulations but Portland is not and as such you all need to be aware of what can and cannot be done from that location.
- 1. Neither Portland nor Boulder should EVER ship a Dash Li-Ion battery by itself. Batteries that are not enclosed in the device are considered another more extreme class of hazardous material and we are not registered to ship those materials. We must only ship batteries that are actually inside the device.
- 2. When I use the term “Package” what I’m referring to is a single box that we hand over to the carrier. A package is not an entire shipment of several boxes, just each box is a “package”.
- 3. It is permissible to ship up to 2 StagesDash head units in a single package without taking any special steps, you can ship it just like any regular part, domestic or international and it can be mixed with other items.
- 4. Any package of more than 2 StagesDash units requires special labels and a statement to be added to the waybill. The labels are here in Boulder and Steve/Matt have been trained to follow the SOP. I would suggest we avoid making any such shipments from Portland if the need is unavoidable we will need to get some stickers and provide some training to allow this.
