TABLE OF CONTENTS
Purpose
PTFE application can be used to alleviate bearing noise while awaiting warranty replacement when customers are experiencing flywheel noise and have performed Flywheel Noise Troubleshooting.
Tools Required:
3 mm hex key
Clean rag (to wipe excess lubricant)
Piece of scrap cardboard or other to protect electronics from over-spray.
Application Instructions
Drive-Side Application
1. Using a 3 mm hex key, remove the two (2) screws on the front right belt guard cap.
2. Pull the cap away from the bike and then rotate it to remove it from the two posts connected to the right leg.
3. Apply the PTFE spray to the bearing, as shown here:
4. Wipe any excess lubricant from the area after application.
5. Re-install the cover after application and spin the flywheel by hand to distribute the lubricant.
If the issue persists or becomes present on the other side of the flywheel, the application can be performed on the non-drive side.
Non-Drive Side PTFE Application
1. Using a 3 mm hex key, remove the two (2) screws on the left front flywheel cap.
2. Using a 3 mm hex key, remove the two (2) screws on the left rear flywheel cap and remove the cap; set aside for reassembly later.
3. Apply PTFE spray to this bearing surface. Be mindful of over-spray by covering any areas with a clean rag or other item is recommended. Clean any excess lubricant or over-spray.
4. Re-install covers after application and spin the flywheel by hand to distribute the lubricant.
5. If the noise persists, please attempt lubricant application after a period of time after the initial application has dried.
