Replacement instructions

Follow these steps to replace the sleeve:

  1. Unplug bike
Make sure the bike is unplugged at the lower stabilizer, not just from the wall.

  2. Remove nose cap
    1. Use the 3 mm hex key to remove the 2 screws that hold the nose cap in place.
    2. Disconnect the connector and remove it from the frame.
Warning: Make sure the StagesBike is unplugged before doing this step.

    3. Pinch the white connector that holds the wire to the frame and push through the hole it is installed in.

  3. Pull the handlebar assembly out.
    1. Completely loosen the handlebar height knob, then lift and remove the entire handlebar assembly. Set aside for later.
  4. Remove existing sleeve
    1. Push from the side of the front half of the sleeve to rotate the front half out of the tube, then remove the back half of the sleeve. Use your thumb to push here:

    2. Keep pushing and rotate the front half back into the tube.

    3. Once it has been rotated enough, it will pull out easily.

    4. Push the back half of the sleeve into the tube and remove it.

  5. Install the new sleeve.
    1. Insert the new sleeve in the same orientation as the existing one, pushing all the way flush to the top of the frame.

  6. Reassemble the bike.
    1. Carefully guide the handlebar assembly back into the sleeve, connector first. Do not let the handlebar drop hard until you have guided the connector out the other side of the head tube.
    2. Insert the white wire holder back into the hole in the frame.
    3. Connect the handlebar electrical connector to the one on the frame, making sure the wire connection is completely seated in place.
    4. Reinstall the nose cap using 3 mm screws.
  7. Plug in the bike.
    1. Once all the steps are complete, the rework is done and the bike can be plugged back in and used again.
